AMBASSADOR INTERVIEW #13: MARGOT CHEVRIER

INTERVIEW AMBASSADRICE #13 : MARGOT CHEVRIER

Introduce yourself in a few sentences: What's your name, where you're from, what you do, what you like to do in your free time, your region, your favorite places

My name is Margot Chevrier, I'm 20 years old. I was born and raised in Nice… so the sea, the sun, and me have a long history! For the past three years, I've been studying medicine here, which takes up a lot of my time, but I love what I do and I know that eventually I'll have the chance to pursue my passion every day. Alongside my studies, I've been pole vaulting at the Nice club for six years now. Between my studies and training almost every day, I don't have much free time, but when I do, I love to read, play the piano, and like everyone else… watch TV series with a nice cup of tea and some cakes!

WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO POLE VAULTING?

I've always been very sporty! Rock climbing, horseback riding, judo, treetop trekking… always daredevil sports! So when I was old enough to start athletics to follow in my dad's footsteps (he's a marathon runner), my parents weren't surprised that I took to pole vaulting…! I started athletics at 12. At the beginning of this sport, you have to do "everything." So like all young people, I had to do the long jump, hurdles, cross-country in the mud, javelin! And of course, pole vaulting… I loved it immediately. And I've never stopped!

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN PRACTICED?

I started pole vaulting in 2014, and I really specialized with my current coach in 2015.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT THIS ACTIVITY?

The speed, the physical and especially mental commitment it requires, being in the air and landing back on the mat after more than 4 meters of freefall… it's like being on a swing when you're 5 years old! And then there's the technical skill and complexity of the discipline, which demand a lot of training, understanding, trying and trying again until you find the right feel. Knowing that the jump will never be perfect and that there will always be something to improve! It's a real game for me, and that's partly what allows me to come to training every day, even when the sessions are tough, when it's cold, when we're tired… I know what my goals are, I know where I'm going, and I know that THIS is the sport I love and am passionate about.

WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE BEST ADVICE YOU CAN GIVE TO THOSE WHO WANT TO TAKE UP POLE VAULTING?

Don't be afraid. Be confident, full of self-assurance. If you're not afraid, sooner or later you'll succeed. And be patient… Pole vaulting is too technical to expect to nail everything on the first try. Well, that's something I'm still working on… 😜

Do you practice other sports in parallel?

No! I love skiing, and I sometimes go swimming, but it's just a hobby.

WHERE AND HOW DID YOU DISCOVER THE NOLIJU BRAND?

It was my coach who introduced me to Noliju! We were researching French sportswear brands to find a supplier for me, and after searching on Instagram and the internet, he finally found Noliju and we immediately clicked.

WHY DID YOU WANT TO REPRESENT THE NOLIJU BRAND AND WEAR IT DAILY IN ALL YOUR WORKOUTS?

I was looking for an equipment partner who would be willing to support me in my project, and when I discovered this brand I immediately thought "of course: a French brand, which is also from Nice! And which highlights women, their projects or simply their busy daily lives, it's exactly what I need."

WHAT ARE YOUR AMBITIONS AS A NOLIJU AMBASSADOR?

I would like to represent female athletes in general, women who never stop for a second during the day. To show that it's possible to succeed in high-level sports while pursuing higher education, as long as determination and desire are present. To silence all those who think that being a woman means "staying at home," that being a high-level athlete means being "not very bright," and above all, to silence them by showing them that I will succeed and that, while it will certainly be more difficult, the pride of having done it will be all the greater.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE NOLIJU OUTFIT? AND WHY?

The white Enzo tank top with the Matt sports bra , the Louis leggings , and the blue Jack jacket . Let's face it, I love blue!! But what I love most is the open back of the Enzo tank top, with the back of the Matt sports bra showing through, echoing the patterns and colors of the Louis leggings. I have absolutely no complaints about this outfit; I'd need seven of these to never have to change my look!!

WHAT ARE YOU STUDYING BESIDES YOUR SPORT?

I am in my third year of medical school in Nice.

HOW DO YOU MANAGE TO BALANCE YOUR STUDIES AND YOUR SPORTS PROJECT?

To begin, you need a good dose of willpower, a good dose of passion and determination, a supportive network that believes in you, some adjustments at university when necessary, and finally, a good dose of "okay, it's tough, I don't have much free time, and I work a lot to make up for the time at the stadium, but I know why I'm doing it and I know where I'm going." With this recipe, you can't help but succeed!

A SPORTING DREAM FOR THE FUTURE?

Without hesitation: the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.

ONE LAST WORD?

I'd like to thank the Noliju team, who were immediately on board to support and guide me through this unique project. They were always so welcoming and encouraging! And of course, I recommend them to anyone who's unsure or hesitating about ordering: I was very surprised by the quality of the products, and using them every day, I'm not disappointed at all—they're truly fantastic. The outfits are amazing, and I have nothing but praise for the fabrics, the scents, and how well they wash: I love them. Once you're wearing them, it's all about the possibilities, just you!!
