For this new interview, noliju spoke with Carole L, a passionate runner and competitor. She chose to train for her last half-marathon alongside her husband. She explains why, and what her upcoming projects are.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN RUNNING?
It's been 11 years since I started running. Thinking about it, that's quite a few years, and I never get tired of it. Yet I run very regularly.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT RACING?
I enjoy the physical effort it requires, whether it's a run for pleasure, for training, or during a race. There's also the aspect of pushing my limits that I appreciate. Realizing that you can do more than you thought possible is quite rewarding!
WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE RUNNING OUTFIT?
Depending on the season, I have my go-to outfits. I live in the South, so I'm lucky enough not to experience very cold weather in the winter. Right now, I'm running in long leggings and a running jacket. In the summer, I prefer cycling shorts and a tank top.
all in Noliju Of course
TELL US HOW YOU CAME TO PREPARE FOR THE NICE CANNES MARATHON WITH YOUR PARTNER?
Running a half-marathon in a competition is already more motivating for me than just running for pleasure. Even more so with a partner: before, during, and after, we share sensations and efforts, we talk about it, we understand each other!
HOW MUCH PREPARATION DID IT TAKE YOU?
We prepared for about 4 or 5 weeks. It's a suitable preparation for this type of competition, but both he and I are used to running, so it was just a matter of modifying our exercises during training sessions.
IS IT DIFFICULT TO TRAIN AS A PARTNER WHEN YOU'RE ALSO A MOTHER?
It's practically impossible. We can almost never train together. Adding the kids to the mix certainly doesn't make things any easier. It's quite difficult to find time for all the outings. It requires a lot of organization and sometimes a few small compromises.
HOW DID YOUR RACE GO?
The race went very well. I had a great feeling and my husband would say the same if you asked him.
We are both delighted to have shared this experience. Our only wish is to do it again!
WHEN WILL YOU REPEAT THE EXPERIMENT?
Our goal is to participate in one or more competitions every year. And not necessarily just running.
Our next challenge is the Cannes triathlon, which takes place in April. That, too, requires very specific training.
And because we don't want to stop there, we would also like to participate in the trigames in Cagnes sur Mer in May.
