A FIRM FOCUS ON ECO-RESPONSIBILITY
Since its creation Noliju We have adopted a local approach, designing our products in Europe and using European fabrics. With each collection, we have deepened our commitment to eco-responsible pieces by increasingly using recycled materials. Our ambition, of course, is to eventually use only recycled or organic natural materials with a low environmental impact.
Today, 25 million plastic bottles are thrown away every day in France. While awareness is gradually growing about plastic, there's still a long way to go. That's why it was important for us to do our part by choosing materials that reuse this plastic waste, which takes between 100 and 1000 years to decompose (bottles, but also old fishing nets found at sea).
Each new product is an opportunity for us to further explore how it will be designed. We always strive to take another step towards reducing our environmental footprint. That's why our latest focus has been on carbon footprint.
THE CARBON FOOTPRINT
A quick reminder: According to INSEE (the French National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies), a carbon footprint corresponds to greenhouse gas emissions from households, as well as those related to the domestic production of goods and services and their import. It is a unit used to measure the impact of human activity on climate change. The most widespread greenhouse gas is CO2, but it is not the only one.
Freight transport is one of the sectors that contributes most to national greenhouse gas emissions. That's why we wanted to minimize the upstream journeys of our products.
THE INTREPID PARKA, MORE RESPONSIBLE THAN EVER
In this direction, our efforts have first focused on our latest product, available for pre-order today: the Intrepid Parka .
The style and pattern making were done at our headquarters, 30km from Nice.
For the fabric, we worked with one of our long-standing partner suppliers based near Lyon, about 500km from Nice. We chose a recycled polyester, made from plastic bottles, which is Oeko-Tex certified. The Oeko-Tex certification guarantees materials free from harmful chemicals.
The bottles are collected, transformed into small plastic pellets, then melted, dyed and spun to create polyamide yarn which will then be used to weave or knit a new fabric.
A FRENCH MADE
In Nice, we are delighted to have formed a partnership with a clothing workshop.
And yes, the big innovation which we hope will be perpetuated on the majority of our products is French manufacturing, and even manufacturing in Nice.
We work with a small, local workshop, which allows for much closer communication and faster response times. This approach is ideal for pre-orders: we want to be able to deliver your parkas as quickly as possible once sales close. Furthermore, the quality of French craftsmanship is undeniable, and we are truly proud to contribute to preserving this expertise and industry in France.
Once the parkas are made, they are stored on our premises and packaged there for shipment. This minimizes the distance our jackets travel upstream. The Intrépide parka therefore only travels 530km from the initial concept to the fabric, manufacturing, and storage!
The only major journey she will make will be to come and fulfill your needs, at your home, anywhere in France and Europe.
TRUST PLACE, TO ENSURE THE TRACEABILITY OF OUR PRODUCTS
Finally, to ensure our actions are more than just words, we have implemented a Digital Ownership Certificate through Trust Place. Our aim is for you to have access at any time to information about the garment you are wearing: care instructions and materials for the most common details, but also suppliers, origin, and authenticity for true traceability of Noliju products.
Indeed, knowing where what you wear comes from is also a powerful act for responsible consumption.
Thus, one step at a time, one change at a time, we wish to make Noliju a brand entirely focused on environmental and social respect, without compromising the quality, aesthetics or versatility of our collections.
