ECO-RESPONSIBILITY: A NOLIJU CONVICTION

L’ÉCO-RESPONSABILITÉ : UNE CONVICTION DE NOLIJU

It's difficult to ignore the importance of ecology in our society today. Consumption is becoming increasingly conscious in order to protect our environment and our future.

Fashion is certainly not immune to this change. But what does it mean to be eco-responsible today?
At the house of Noliju, we use several approaches to add our contribution.

Local sourcing and production

From the very creation of At Noliju , we wanted all production to take place near our headquarters in Nice, both to reduce transport distances and to ensure respect for employee rights in the workshops. After extensive research, we selected several workshops in Portugal, a country known and recognized for the quality of its technical textile manufacturing. The accessories, however, are made in France.

For the logic to be complete, it seemed essential that the chosen fabrics also originate from the European Union. We are fortunate to have, in France and Italy for example, brilliant fabric manufacturers who offer high-end, increasingly innovative materials and supply the biggest names in sports. Why deprive ourselves of this wealth of excellence?

Therefore, selecting our fabrics and manufacturing locally helps limit transportation and thus our carbon footprint. It also allows us to have a better understanding of our partners. A responsible and essential first step for Norah, the designer.

Versatile, high-quality products

The team also takes an eco-responsible approach to creating its collections. Indeed, each piece is designed to be usable in different situations. These are clothes for everyday champions, allowing each woman to juggle her many activities without having to change her outfit multiple times.

Trousers Stylish enough to wear to work AND technical enough to wear for running.
A jacket Waterproof, breathable and windproof to face difficult conditions in the mountains AND stylish for the city thanks to its shape inspired by the leather perfecto jacket.
A foolproof swimsuit for your water activities such as paddleboarding AND chic and comfortable enough to become a pretty bodysuit under high-waisted pants when having drinks with friends.

That's the whole spirit of Noliju!

It's also a lovely way to buy clothes more thoughtfully, clothes that won't just be worn once, for a single occasion. Furthermore, high-quality fabric and construction mean clothes that last and stand the test of time. Buying less to buy better is also a way to help the environment… without sacrificing style and elegance, of course!

The next step: recycled or organic materials

Today, proximity and versatility are deeply rooted in Noliju's culture. The team didn't want to stop there, however, and pushed its boundaries even further.

How ?
By searching for new materials with a lower environmental impact, we are working on developing collections: using recycled fabrics for the most technical models, polyamide (leggings, sports bras, swimsuits for example), or natural organic fabrics.

Following numerous requests from our Nolijettes, we have been working on a brand new item: the swimsuit. Since the fabric used is made from recycled fishing nets, starting our eco-responsible product line with this item quickly made perfect sense.

We also worked with natural materials like organic cotton to make the t-shirt featuring our mantra, "NoLimitJustU." Cotton is currently a very water-intensive crop, requiring significant amounts of pesticides. By choosing organic cotton, we are opting for a raw material grown without fertilizers and chemicals, and with less water.

These two new products are just the beginning of a new way of working on our collections. We want to offer you increasingly innovative and environmentally friendly products.

Informed purchases thanks to pre-sales

Finally, beyond creation, choice of textiles and place of manufacture, being eco-responsible also involves an evolution in the way we offer our products and therefore consume them.

It should be noted that for each collection created, "estimated" stocks are ordered which are themselves linked to the minimum quantities that a workshop agrees to produce.
With each collection, we risk having unsold items, excess stock that we'll have to get rid of one way or another. This overstocking is also a scourge for the environment. Who hasn't heard of brands burning (or burning) their unsold items to get rid of them?

To avoid this overabundance of merchandise, a year ago we offered our flagship trousers in various colours as a pre-sale.

Offering this type of sale is beneficial on several levels:
We are sure you will like the product
We only order the necessary quantities and thus avoid harmful overstocking.

Building on this first successful experience, we are therefore repeating the experience this year with our new eco-responsible pieces, the recycled swimsuit, the Adventurer and the 100% organic cotton T-shirt, the Audacious, and we are considering offering this method of purchase more regularly.

Thus, during these first 4 years, we have evolved Noliju to create a brand that reflects you and is committed to issues essential for the future.
We will continue to grow with the convictions that unite us and we thank you again for the support you give us every day.
