RUNNING TO THE OFFICE

COURIR AU BUREAU

WE FOCUSED ON WORKERS THIS OCTOBER!

We realized that we are constantly poorly positioned at work, at our desk, in our chair for many hours each day.

This is totally harmful to our health .

Between back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, and numb legs, it also exposes us even more to the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

In short… working sitting down is bad for your health!

SO HOW DO WE DO IT?

We investigated new workplace trends that are good for our bodies.

The main trend is working while standing, whether at rest or in motion.

Having emerged in Europe a few years ago, this practice has truly won over many European startup founders and employees.

Happiness managers, or those responsible for employee well-being, are increasingly common in large companies and business incubators, aiming to improve the quality of life for each employee. They have implemented numerous strategies to enhance the workplace experience .

In order to allow employees to work standing up, they have installed convertible desks that adapt to their size and height, so that the employee can choose between sitting or standing during their workday.

For larger companies, we can find offices with exceptional design and quality for around €3,000. For smaller businesses, IKEA offers modular desks, less aesthetically pleasing but very practical for employees, for around €700.

Following this innovation, managers and health specialists went even further in their search for the well-being of employees and workers in general: they implemented walking work .

The concept is simple: it involves installing a treadmill, which is set to a very low speed so as not to impact the position of employees and not to disturb their concentration and work.

Workers will think and plan their tasks without being distracted by the physical activity they are performing, but will be constantly in motion, which will keep them active and awake throughout the day.

Many workers who have tried it have testified and explained that since they have been working this way, they are much more dynamic, awake, less fatigue accumulates and they feel much freer to move between their office and that of their colleagues.

Walking while working throughout the day would also help to get better sleep, feel more calm and maintain a perfect figure.

They acquire a work rhythm that simply keeps them "in shape"! So could this be the miracle solution?

Treadmill desks, also called “ treadmill desks ” in English, are manufactured by a few companies in the world that sell them adapted to each demand and need, such as Activeup for example.

Medical specialists have stated that we should walk an average of 30 to 90 minutes a day, at a minimum. Today, few people walk more than an hour a day, because we only move between bed and chair, between chair and shower, between shower and car or bus, between public transport and chair, and back home. This doesn't encourage us to actually walk for 30 or even 90 minutes continuously.

And the less effort we make, the more tired we get…

Here is the explanation of why this new trick of combining sport and work is beneficial for men.

For a visual explanation, we have chosen to share the video produced by the company ActivUp below:

SO, WHAT ABOUT YOU? ARE YOU READY TO TRY THIS UNCONVENTIONAL NEW PRACTICE?
